We’ve been alerted to fake Facebook, TikTok, and other social media posts pretending to represent Oakton Coins & Collectibles. These posts often use AI-generated or altered photos of our storefront and falsely claim we are buying South African coins or gold from South Africa.
These are scams.

Does not buy coins, jewelry, or bullion from anyone outside the United States.

Does not conduct business through WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, or TikTok direct messages.

Never asks anyone to send money, cryptocurrency, or personal information to unverified contacts.
We occasionally work with customers within the United States who mail in coin collections or bullion after speaking with us directly and confirming details by phone.
However, we do not purchase or appraise items from outside the U.S. under any circumstances.
If you see a suspicious post or message claiming to represent us, please:
